FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What day will CKO Hoboken officially reopen?
Tuesday, September 8th! We’re excited to see you and the rest of the CKO Family back at the gym rocking those workouts!
How are you able to reopen?
Weeks ago, the Governor of New Jersey issued an executive order allowing certain indoor recreation, including karate, yoga, pilates, and others, to reopen with certain restrictions in place. We spoke to Hoboken officials and they had granted us permission to reopen our 2nd floor, 10,000 square foot, CKO Kickboxing Studio! Recently, Governor Murphy signed a new executive order allowing all gyms to reopen as well, which gives us the ability to also reopen our third-floor traditional 10,000 square foot gym too!
What are some of the main guidelines included with the reopening of indoor CKO Classes?
*Procedures and policies may be altered to stay in compliance with any future-mandated requirements.
How and why are your CKO Heavy Bags so spaced apart?
We’re lucky enough that we have a 10,000 square foot facility. Our bags were originally spaced approximately 6 feet apart to begin with, but we want people to feel safe and secure. The CDC guidelines suggest a distance of 6 feet between people but we went ahead and placed even more space between bags to help everyone feel more comfortable! Our large square footage also gives us a higher capacity limit. Plus, now you have A LOT more workout space with no one able to enter your 6-foot radius easily!
Why do I have to wear a mask while working out?
This is a rule that the Governor and Mayor have set during this time. We do not have any say in it and cannot allow anyone to break it. We understand pausing your workout to take a sip of water or a few breaths and our trainers will help guide you in the event you need to! If you prefer not to wear a mask, our outdoor option will continue to be available! If you have any questions on masks, feel free to reach out. If you forget your mask, we have them available for sale at the front desk.
What will the CKO Class structure be?
All classes will last a total of 45 minutes. There will be no running around the gym and no swapping bags. Trainers will not call out drills that would create situations that could cross-over in anyone else’s workout area. Please feel free to bring a towel or mat for any floor drills. The great thing is that with so much space between every bag, there’s A LOT of personal workout area for you!
What safety/cleaning procedure are you adding?
A lot of stuff has been done behind the scenes but you’ll also see some new features when you come in!
How many people are allowed in each class?
In order to comply with guidelines, we are allowing a 40 person maximum per class. Classes will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you arrive to class but the maximum limit for class has been reached, you will be given the option to go upstairs to our 3rd floor traditional 10,000 square foot gym with a maximum capacity of 40 people as well. *Class bookings may be required in the future.
What is the procedure when I come in for class?
What do I need to bring to classes?
We suggest a bottle of water and a towel to wipe off sweat. A mat is also optional. Please also remember that gloves, shoes, and masks are additional requirements for all classes. Remember to wear breathable, comfortable clothing and be ready to BURN those calories and TONE that muscle!
Can I purchase a water at the front desk?
You can but it must be with cash-only. A bottle of water costs $1 but we cannot charge it via our systems so these must be cash transactions only. The water-fountains will be disabled until further notice.
Am I allowed to come if I am not a member?
Yes, you can! If you decide to drop into a class and it is your first time, you will need to arrive 15 minutes early with your phone for our contactless new-guest system. If you do not have gloves, you can purchase them prior to the class for $20 (for starter gloves – they’d be yours to keep). You are definitely allowed to bring your own MMA or boxing-style gloves as well. Simply call us or message us on Instagram (handle: cko_hoboken) if you have any additional questions!
How do I view the schedule?
The schedule can be viewed by clicking here: CKO KICKBOXING CLASS SCHEDULE
What if I want to use the 3rd Floor traditional gym?
You’re welcome to use it as well on a first-come-first-serve basis. The maximum number of allowed members will be 40 people at a time. We will be monitoring counts as people check-in. Everyone entering the gym is required to check-in at the front desk and have their temperature taken. *Bookings may be required in the future.
What if I am interested in Personal Training?
We can provide Personal Training with our Certified Personal Trainers. Please reach out to our front desk staff or message us directly via Instagram or Facebook.
Can I use my old Groupon or Special that I purchased in 2020 and haven’t been able to use yet?
Groupons and specials cannot be redeemed at this time due to class limitations, but we are working on ways to utilize them with our new system. Once everything is ready, we’ll announce it and we will honor even expired, previously unused specials you might have had (hold onto them, we’ve got your back – just need a little more time to make it all seamless).
What if I’d like to continue classes outside?
You will still be able to continue outdoor classes via our outdoor booking system. Due to system limitations, at this time, we are not able to provide outdoor classes through our membership (we’re working on solutions though). For more information on outdoor classes, please head to: https://cko.fitness/OutdoorClass
What if I purchased a gift-card to support you during the shutdown and want to redeem it now?
You absolutely can! Just come talk to us at our front desk or reach out to us via social media or e-mail! Thank you for showing your support to our CKO Family. Please know how much we truly appreciate it!
What if I have a suggestion?
There might be kinks in the process since this is different on our end but we will always find ways to resolve any new issues that pop up and improve any way we can. This new way of doing things is very different than the way we’ve been running for the last 23 years but that just means that we can find some great ways to grow with it! If you have ideas to improve or need any help with anything, just communicate with us and we’ll figure it out together! We’re proud to say that we have returned every single call, text, and message within a short time that we have had since the state-mandated shut down and we’ll keep being responsive to help everyone we can!
This all sounds GREAT! How do I sign up for membership?

We would like to thank the City of Hoboken, ShopRite, our Landlord, our Trainers, our Staff, and everyone involved in helping us bring the indoor and outdoor classes back to the Hoboken community. While we are referred to as a gym, we know that our time in Hoboken for the last 23 years has proven that we are so much more. For many, coming to CKO is a stress-relief, a community of friends, a support system, and a vital part to our physical and mental well-being. We want all our members and future members to know that we believe in bringing a positive outlet for everyone to move forward and grow together. Our mission has never simply been solely focused on exercise, but rather, on bringing hope and health to everyone around us.
With open arms, we proudly say, THANK YOU!
