Michael is co-owner of CKO Kickboxing Toronto, one of the fastest-growing fitness franchises in the USA and now in Canada. Michael brings with him a combination of leadership, corporate management and a passion for health and fitness to his new venture. He studied at the University of Cape Town, South Africa and came to Canada in 1994 in search of a new adventure. He first saw CKO Kickboxing while on a business trip to Jersey City, NJ, and took his first class while on a business trip to Tampa, FL. He says “I went to my first CKO Kickboxing class in Clermont last year. I could not believe how quickly the hour went by. It was a full body workout and I loved it”
Michael has over 30 years experience in Information Technology and Business Operations, and currently works for a large telecommunications company in Toronto. A native of Cape Town, South Africa, he lived in Vancouver for 6 years and moved to Toronto in 2000.

Tina is co-owner of CKO Kickboxing Toronto. Tina is the head instructor for CKO Toronto, and brings a combination of fitness instruction, academic degrees and community leadership to the organisation. Her formal achedemic degrees include a BA in law and Justice from Laurentian University. Tina is also certified as personal trainer with CanFitPro and hold a valid CPR certification. She is currenlty completed a certificaiton in Nutrition which will allow CKO Toronto to be able to provide a fully managed 10 week fitness and nutritional program for CKO members.
In 2011 Tina was injured in a car accident and was convinced by a friend to take on cardio kickboxing classes. Over time she felt the strength move back into her body and soon became an instructor and partner in the business. In 2015, with the experience under her belt, she started looking for similar workout options but with a different approach to people and membership. She found it when she went to CKO Jersey City, where she started her love affair with CKO kickboxing. Two subsequent trips to Manhanntan later, visiting CKO East side 2 days in a row and she was sold on the ideology and family approach to fitness training that makes CKO so different from everyone else. In 2016 she started the process of bringing CKO Kickboxing to Canada!
Martyna’s journey with kickboxing started in 2017 when she first signed up for boot camp classes. One of the classes offered, was kickboxing. That was the time she realized how much she enjoys hitting that bag while getting a total body workout. Not to mention how amazing and energized she felt during and after a kickboxing class. When Martyna moved to Etobicoke she noticed CKO Toronto was right around the corner and right away signed up for her first class. The rest is history… She says “I loved the class so much that right away I went up to the owners of CKO Toronto and asked how I can become a kickboxing instructor.” Right then and there I knew that kickboxing is my passion and was determined to do whatever it takes to become a kickboxing instructor.
Martyna was physically active for the majority of her life. Starting in middle school she was a member of UKS Krokus where she trained biathlon for over 5 years, participating in many competitions in biathlon around Poland. She was also a member of the local handball team where she also would compete with teams from different parts of Poland. In her teenage years, Martyna started a new journey in modern/hip hop/jazz dance. It was another incredible time of her life, going to competitions with her crew and earning few 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards. She says “Having tried so many different ways to be physically active I have to say kickboxing and dancing are the two things that give me the most pleasure, energy and motivation. I cannot imagine my life without being able to do those two things that I absolutely love!”

Having a holistic approach to many aspects of life like nutrition, beauty and health in general, Martyna strongly believes that kickboxing, which trains not just the body but also the mind, is a very unconventional, fun and motivational way to exercise and stay strong physically and mentally.
Martyna says “I am blessed to be a kickboxing instructor at CKO Toronto, and blessed to meet fantastic people each day and be able to be a small part of their lives as they push their limits to achieve their goals. We are all lifelong learners and I learn something every day from our incredible members, fellow instructors and our whole CKO family.”

I have competed in Kickboxing, Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, and MMA since 2008 with 50+ fights.

Why am I a trainer?
Because of passion. Knowing that I can be apart of, and change, someone’s life positively, is Priceless.
In January 2016, I was 20 lbs heavier than I had ever been. After watching my mother struggle with her weight her entire life, I was afraid I was also going to head down that road. I slowly began to reintroduce the gym back into my life, and by the end of the year, I had gotten rid of those extra pounds. Despite finally making a habit out of going to the gym again, running on a treadmill can only be so much fun, so I signed myself and my mother up for kickboxing classes. Both my mother and I continued to attend classes 4-5 times a week throughout the summer. I
loved how the classes would push me to my limit every time, and how much of an emotional release it was to punch and kick a heavy bag.
I earned my group fitness instructor certification in September 2017 and am currently working towards a personal trainer certification.
I also holds an Undergraduate and Graduate degree from the New England Conservatory, and an Artist Diploma from the Glenn Gould School at the Royal Conservatory in French Horn performance. I freelances in the Toronto area, and am attending the University of Toronto in the fall of 2018 to pursue my Doctorate degree.
Our Trial Class is available for first time guests only. If you would like to take advantage of this one time offer, you may sign up directly through each club's schedule. Plan on arriving 15-20 minutes before your scheduled class time. Once registered, you will be provided with an orientation of the punches and kicks you will be using throughout the class. Our classes are geared so you can “go at your own pace” so there is no need to be intimidated. You’ll love the CKO experience!
Each class is 1-hour in length and offers a total body workout. You will sweat, de-stress and enjoy exercising more than ever.
Since you will be punching a heavy bag, you will need to protect your hands with boxing/MMA gloves. Feel free to bring your own or we have a variety of gloves available for purchase at the gym. Wear loose fitting, comfortable gym clothes. We guarantee you’re going to sweat. Therefore, shorts will probably be a good option. You will not be permitted to participate in a class unless you are wearing sneakers/tennis shoes. Please bring a towel and you will definitely need water or some type of sports drink. These are also available for purchase at the gym.
Once you become a member, you can begin taking classes immediately.
The majority of our members have never taken a kickboxing class prior to coming to CKO. However, they get addicted to the workout quickly.
Since everyone has their own heavy bag to workout on and goes at their own pace, our classes are geared for all fitness levels. Our certified instructors are trained to motivate and push each member to their desired results.
If a young adult under the age of 18 is interested, a parent/guardian must sign for him or her to take a class. Please inquire within to see if we are currently offering programs for children.
We have both male and female members and the classes are mixed.
Your membership entitles you to unlimited classes. You can workout every day if you like.
We have many different programs available. Once you have completed your trial class, one of our representatives will go over different pricing options.
All of our locations are individually owned and operated. Depending on the market, it can range anywhere from $5 - $20 to take a class in another gym.
We offer our 10 Week Challenge Program at different times of the year. Once signed up as a prospect in our system, you will be notified whenever the program is offered.
Due to popular demand, some CKO Kickboxing clubs offer group, co-ed, children's kickboxing classes. Please inquire with your local CKO Kickboxing club to see if the classes are available, and let your voice be heard.
